15 Japanese student reporters visiting Bayer CropScience headquarters in Monheim

|  | A group of 15 pupils from Japan visited the Bayer CropScience headquarters in Monheim on July 29 to inform themselves about the company’s activities in the areas of Sustainable Agriculture and its approach towards protecting nature and the environment. The participants are taking part in the so called “Mainichi Student Reporters Project” in the course of which they tour different environmental facilities and sites of Bayer to write articles about their experiences and their new acquired knowledge for the major Japanese daily newspaper “Mainichi Shimbun”. |
| The student reporters visit to Monheim started with an introduction to Bayer CropScience and a talk about Sustainable Agriculture and the contributions of the company in this field. After visiting the institutes for metabolism and environmental fate, residue analysis, operator and consumer safety as well the institutes for insect pests and compound logistics, the students came together with experts of Bayer CropScience to further discuss the company’s environmental precautions. The “Mainichi Student Reporters Project” started in 2000 and is part of the social engagement of Bayer in Japan focusing on scientific education. In this project Bayer is cooperating with “Mainichi Shimbun”, one of the biggest Japanese daily newspapers with nearly 4 Million copies sold per day. The project also forms part of the company’s activities for the so called “Deutschlandjahr”, a year-long event about Germany, in Japan 2005/2006. The “Deutschlandjahr” was opened by German federal president Horst Köhler and the Japanese crown prince Naruhito in Tokyo earlier this year. | ||

15 japanische Schülerreporter zu Besuch in der Unternehmenszentrale von Bayer CropScience in Monheim
Zu Besuch im Bereich Umweltforschung bei Dr. Eduard Hellpointer | | 15 japanische Schüler haben am Freitag, dem 29. Juli, der Unternehmenszentrale von Bayer CropScience in Monheim einen Besuch abgestattet, um sich über die Aktivitäten des Unternehmens im Bereich Nachhaltige Landwirtschaft und seine Lösungen zum Schutz der Umwelt zu informieren. Die Jugendlichen nehmen am “Mainichi Student Reporters Projekt” teil, bei dem japanische Schüler verschiedene Umwelt-Anlagen des Unternehmens besuchen und anschließend Beiträge über ihre Erfahrungen und ihr neu erlerntes Wissen in der japanischen Tageszeitung „Mainichi Shimbun“ veröffentlichen. |
| Ihr Besuch in Monheim begann mit einem Vortrag über „Nachhaltige Landwirtschaft“ und den Beitrag des Unternehmens zu einer solchen Landwirtschaft. Nach Besuchen in den Bereichen Substanzlogistik, Umweltforschung und Parasitologie sowie Rückstandsanalytik kamen die Schüler noch mit Experten von Bayer CropScience zusammen, um über die Unweltschutzmaßnahmen des Unternehmens zu diskutieren. Das Projekt begann im Jahr 2000 und ist seither Teil des sozialen Engagements von Bayer in Japan, das seinen Schwerpunkt auf wissenschaftliche Ausbildung setzt. Grundlage ist eine Kooperation mit „Mainichi Shimbun“, mit einer Auflage von rund vier Millionen Exemplaren eine der größten japanischen überregionalen Tageszeitungen. Darüber hinaus zählt das Projekt zu den Aktivitäten von Bayer zum Deutschlandjahr in Japan 2005/2006, das zuvor von Bundespräsident Horst Köhler und dem japanischen Kronprinz Naruhito in Tokio eröffnet wurde. | ||
