Portfolio Development
|
Crop protection innovations are an important prerequisite for the sustainable development of agriculture. The product solutions offered by Bayer CropScience are continually improved through the company's research and development activities. |
Our contribution to portfolio development
The range of products offered by Bayer CropScience is designed to meet the needs of farming operations all over the world and supplies efficient, environmentally safe technologies for high-quality, high-yielding crops. The product portfolio is constantly being rejuvenated through the company’s research and development efforts so that it meets the needs of our customers and fulfills the requirements imposed by changing cultivation and market conditions.
The development of new products – vital for a progressive company
Bayer CropScience regularly analyzes information from the markets, the registration authorities, research scientists, other organizations and the general public. New, highly effective compounds and formulating technologies are developed and brought to the market. Older and less suitable products are successively replaced by products with better safety profile, improved environmental behaviour or enhanced biological efficacy, for example.
Climatic and farming conditions vary widely from one country to another, as do the weeds, diseases and pests. Bayer CropScience offers a differentiated product range to protect the crops growing under these diverse conditions. Additionally we pursue a number of measures to promote the safe use of our products.
Bayer CropScience is confident that all products sold by the company can be used responsibly.
Phase-out remaining WHO Class I formulations by the end of 2012
Bayer CropScience only distributes crop protection products that have been granted regulatory approval by the authorities in the countries concerned, which are safe when used responsibly and as intended, and which pose no risk to either people or the environment.
As part of its ongoing portfolio optimization efforts, the company is accelerating the phase-out of all remaining WHO Class I insecticide formulations by the end of 2012. In close coordination with local registration authorities and the company’s customer base, products within this category will be replaced by more modern, targeted and environmentally friendly formulations.
New active substances with markedly better risk profiles are now available to customers worldwide to help replacing the old products that have been withdrawn from the market.
