Stakeholder engagement and partnerships

The challenges of achieving the goals for sustainable development that have been defined by the international community require communication and cooperation across all sectors of society. Business contributes significantly and in a variety of ways through the development of innovative and sustainable solutions. Bayer CropScience is a worldwide provider of agricultural technologies and services and a partner for various stakeholders: customers, stakeholders in the supply and value chains of food and non-food crops, but also our employees, investors, shareholders, representatives of governments, Non- Governmental Organizations, communities and the media.

The company is confident that it can complement various stakeholder approaches significantly through its core competencies and expertise in: research, development, manufacturing, management, marketing and related stewardship aspects, including capacity-building. These competencies are especially valued in multi-stakeholder partnerships and contribute to benefits for all partners involved and, ultimately, will also benefit the consumers.

Understanding the expectations and concerns of society and working with stakeholders to achieve tangible and enhanced results are important to Bayer CropScience. Stakeholder engagement at different levels makes good business sense and is an integral part of our business approach because combining resources will invariably prevail over isolated approaches. Hence Bayer CropScience is committed to:
  • initiating and maintaining an open dialogue with stakeholders to foster mutual understanding, share different points of views, and ensure no options are overlooked
  • consulting with stakeholders to increase mutual knowledge and clarify perspectives, as well as building trust and fostering respect for diversity
  • cooperating in multi-stakeholder projects, including public-private partnerships, to pool expertise and to adapt solutions for local needs.
